One Long Weekend

First and foremost my dear friend Keighty was home from Arizona and I got to be my rebellious rascally self with her two nights in a row! The first night involved Orchid Lane shopping and Indian food at Shalimar. Oh Pakora Curry, how tasty you are! We finished up with a few pints at Arbor Brewing Company. Sadly however, this was Thursday night, which meant I had to work again on Friday. But the day flew by and before I knew it, Keighty and I were high tailin it to Kalamazoo, to see some friends' bands play. A funk band and bluegrass band, I love my state.
I got home about five thirty the next morning to crawl my achy dance-y bones into bed next to Toby, who had a few adventures of his own that night. Woke up bright and early on Saturday to get the house cleaned up a bit for The Marzonies. It was Michigan Brewers' fest just a couple blocks from our house, and we had tickets. Fun was had, beers were drank, and the sun was shining shining shining. An after party, a melt down, and a terrible argument with Toby later I was once again curled up in bed.
I now find myself in a household full of homebrews. But I'm just a little too exhausted to even crack one open.
This weekend I was happy to:
- see one of my bestfriendsforever
- have a glass of shiraz and laugh about the things we used to do
- walk around downtown ann arbor in nice weather
- dance barefoot to bluegrass downtown kalamazoo
- eat a ham and cheese omelet and banana bread with chocolate milk from crows nest at two in the morning
- spend the day with good friends at the park and drink some good brews
- come home to bbq pulled pork thanks to my wonderful boy
- have an after party with other friends
- make up with my toby after a horrific argument
- sleep in this morning

Does the weekend truly have to end?

Night Bright

top two photographs from our fourth of july celebration
bottom two photographs from a night out on the town
My favorite photographs end up being the ones that look like these.
Obviously there have been gaps in posting, and it's certainly not for lack of inspiration anymore. It's mostly the fact that I don't have the internets at home (well at least not MY OWN internets) and the trips to Ugly Mug have slowed down now that I'm working forty hours a week. It feels good to be getting paychecks again, although I am far from being financially comfortable. Today I managed to connect to one of my neighborhood unsecured networks, I'm still in my pajamas and have only left the bedroom once to use the restroom.
Toby left last night for a guys night, so I've been pretty much able to do anything I want without judgement. Jess and I had some beers last night at Corner Brewery and then walked around Depot Town. I hadn't realized that Elvis Fest was taking place this weekend and was sort of bummed we hadn't attended. It's an annual festival, so there is always next year. I'm working on getting photoshop for my laptop because I've taken some great photographs of Ypsilanti and Depot Town, and hoping to spruce them up a bit for presentation points. Yes, I am still in love with my new community. I've been here a month and a half and I feel as though I could stay forever. Even though I know I wont because in three years time ( when Toby finishes gradschool) I'll be itchin to move again.
Today I:
- enjoyed the early morning thunderstorm
- have done absolutely nothing productive
- played on facebook, tumblr, and blogger
Later I will:
- take a shower and get fancy for a wedding
- welcome toby home with kisses and stories of adventures
- take a drive north to the wedding destination
- feel uncomfortable
- fidget
- have cocktails with friends and toby
- loosen up
- get slightly emotional
- eat food, my favorite part of the day
- come home
- fall asleep with toby, which i didn't get to do last night
Goals?
- do not spend too much money!
( this should be an ongoing goal actually)
Also Toby, Arthur, Jess and I tried to go to Top of the Park, a free weekly music festival in Ann Arbor a week or so ago, but we were running late and missed the show. As we were walking around the park afterwards I snapped this picture. Apparently there was still music in the air.
